Nelson & District Hospice Society

Providing practical, emotional and spiritual support to individuals and their loved ones through the stages of dying, death and bereavement. Hospice palliative care aims to make the last months of life comfortable, peaceful and dignified for patients and their caregivers by providing care, support, respite and advocacy. Our trained Hospice volunteers work as part of a caregiving team that could include community home nursing, doctors, hospital and facility staff, social workers and spiritual leaders.

Grief Support

Nelson Hospice periodically offers a drop-in group supporting bereaved adults who have lost someone through death at any time. Co-facilitated by trained Hospice volunteers, the group is a structured, safe and confidential environment for individuals to explore their grief, regardless of when the death occurred. You are not expected to participate in anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Crystal Bowl Sound Baths For Grief Support

Sound healing is a gentle non-invasive, deeply therapeutic healing modality. During a sound bath, you can simply relax, rejuvenate, or go to very deep places of meditation and insight. The frequencies, overtones of crystal bowls take you to a place of beauty, love and peace. Through receiving sound you awaken your body's innate healing abilities.

NIDUS Personal Planning and Resource Registry

Personal planning is about planning for incapacity, end-of-life and other support needs. Personal planning does not replace informal help provided by your friends and family. Instead, it formalizes this support and gives them or others the legal authority necessary to help you. The best time to do personal planning is before a crisis occurs.
